G'day All,
My apologies, but I'm having trouble coming to grips with your site!!
I'm just a simple man.

Question; your horse, I remember one just like it on the South Downs,
I'm not sure, it could have been a stallion or that might have been just a
shadow on the chalk?

Have a good one,

Sadman

Is he skiing?  Blink Some would say he's the clean version of the Cerne Abbas Giant lol.

There are many chalk sculptures on the hills of Wiltshire : a number of White Horses & military badges.

More interesting than you think, ..............maybe !

If you needed to get from one place to another as quickly or as easily as possible, the shortest distance is a straight line. Straight roads came long before the Romans, they were just good at surfacing them. Take three sticks decide on the direction you want to travel, and place two of them one behind the other in that direction. Take the third stick and place it in a straight line with the first two, using those sticks as line of sight to do so. You now have three sticks pointing the way to travel. Set off taking the first stick with you. Place this as far as you can from the first two sticks, but keeping them in line astern behind you. Now take the new stick one, which was the original stick two and make it the new stick three.

Start

O                O                     O

1                 2                     3

Second
                  O                      O                           O
                  2                       3                         was 1

Third

                                           O                           O                                                 O
                                           3                          was1                                            was2

Eventually you will be at your destination, having left your original point which you can no longer see.

Now imagine
The person who knew this trick would literally become the leader of your tribe
You would rever them enough to carve their image in one of the hillsides that you travelled around from

How do skiers hold their sticks when they are tired or resting. How would this person rest with his travelling sticks, so how would their followers often see them standing ?

Hand in your papers for marking, and the boy who put a peg on the history teacher at Matraver's coat tail as he walked between the desks was.......................
