So if every town and AA member across the UK, plus Mr Kinnersley had been demanding better roads for Westbury and a bypass,
you would be fine with that ?

Or would there be outrage that towns across the UK are demanding that we rip up 'our' countryside ?

Not only are we refused a by-pass but we're without a  Post Office too. I guess that will mean we'll have to join up with the rest of the traffic going through the town and add to it. Bring it on! There's no way I can walk from the Warminster Road to the Co-op on the edge of town and walk back again.

Well done Johnboy. It is good that at your age you are able to walk from the Warminster Road to the Co-op. Keep it going. I know a man of your age who 'runs' on a daily basis. I'm not suggesting you should start running - stick to your walking. However, be patient with the elderly as they're not all as active as you for many different reasons. As for me, I have been unable to walk any distance (and I'm younger than you) since a 'boy racer' smashed into the back of a car in which I was a passenger. The left side of my back was wrecked.

One of the disappointments at the Local Area Board meeting last night was that the monies originally ring-fenced by Wiltshire Council towards the scheme were not guaranteed to be carried forward to any other schemes that might be proposed for Westbury and the surrounding area but would be used for whatever was the next priority in Wiltshire. There seems to be no Council 'plan B' and although they agreed to look urgently (after Mike Hawkins quite rightly pressed them hard) at the dangers along the Warminster Road, all other problem areas like Yarnbrook and the trading estate / Heywood would need to be re-looked at. The 'impression' was that this could take some considerable time.

Call me cynical if you wish, but I consider that if our town had been in a maginal parlimentary constituency the bypass would have been approved.

Going forward, may I suggest that a 17 tonne weight limit (except for loading) be applied to the A350 from Yarnbrook to Warminster services. The diversioary route to be via Rode, Southwick and North Bradley. No new roads need be built, the cost, a few signs and some enforcement from the relevant authorities.

Just wanted to say how miserable I am that the bypass has been refused. I shall now make a point of collecting the black particles which appear on my window sills on a daily basis. It is important to know what they consist of just in case it's killing us, albeit slowly.

I congratulate Mr. Russell Hawker for managing yesterday evening's meeting in a professional manner and thanks to Fleur, a lady with immense knowledge.

The answer is to ensure that the warminster road/ haynes road gets dug up on a regular basis for any excuse by the town council then the lorry drivers will get totaly wee weeed of and find another route, there by releaving Westbury of the traffic.

I certainly agree that the main road should always have its roadworks dealt with during the daytime and NOT at night. Last week, roadworks were taking place during the night outside the Tale of Spice. We couldn't sleep through it! We can't be the only people on the A350 who heard it - there was a hell of a lot of drilling. It's a shame that more people are not connected to the internet to give us more feedback.

I fail to see why that should matter. People have to live in these houses whether they're rented or not.

So just because I chose to buy a house on a busy road then I somehow waive my rights to live in a pollution free environment?

Many people have lived on this road for 20, 30 or 40 years, it wasn't as busy then, do they also lose their rights?

The traffic was nowhere near as bad as it is now when I bought this house nearly 10 years ago.
