I can see both points of view here. I think anyone who buys a house on a main road, regardless of how busy it was at the time of purchase, must realise that it would only get busier with time. By the same token, people who have bought houses on main roads still have a right to a pollution free environment. A by-pass would have reduced the pollution but not made it free. If you choose to live next to a main road you have to expect some pollution from traffic.

Is this day and age where 1. you get busted for lighting a bonfire 2 you get busted for playing music too loud 3 you get busted for painting graffiti 4 you get busted for emitting too much exhaust 5 you get busted for driving too fast 6 you get busted for sounding your horn after 8pm
So you would think that at least us poor sods who put up with this could have a little respite, even if we did by a house on the A350 35 years ago. Am i to be disadvantaged further when i spend much of my disposal income in westbury
Bonfire= fuel particulates over my windows loud music= traffic noise prevents resting in the garden graffiti= black soot over the windows exhaust= actual dark haze when cars are at a standill outside my house driving too fast= when no traffic the A350 is like a bloody race track with cars and lorries do in excess of the speed limit blowing your horn= at least 12 times a day Police/Ambulance with their blessed klaxon blaring
Very very p.......d off

Not sure what your point is. If you live on a main road, expect all that you have described. If it makes you so very very pi**ed off - move. I don't know what spending much of your disposable income in Westbury has to do with anything either.

As you no longer have any interest, I'll miss you. You are one of the few who actually has a brain! As for the White Horse News, I wouldn't be at all surprised if at some stage, somebody somewhere will take them to task! I will say no more on that matter.

Having worked on the WHN for about 4 years I feel I should respond to this comment. Take them to task? Over what? The newspaper, in my and many other people's opinion, has always been fair. If mistakes are made they are rectified. Just because you might not agree with something that is published doesn't make it wrong.
I like you think Westbury should have had a bypass - but that doesn't make it right. In regards to Mike / pubwatch - I think it's a bit of a storm in a teacup personally.

Saying?
Not a lot, just the usual hot air rhetoric from our friend in Warminster. Some people really need to get a life.

i think it made the point very well that the wrong route was chosen and that is the main reason that the bypass was thrown out

He would have campaigned against the western route if that was proposed.
