I think this isnt a battle we should fight shared with Melksham (for instance),  it is our pool, but - more than that - the historical significance of Westbury's pool stands it alone from the others.  WHile I hope no-one loses their pool (the statement pools are over-provided must surely be the result of someone setting out to prove a proposition, as it is, quite frankly a bunch of pigs testicles)  I genuinely think there is a case beyond that of simple provision for a pool such as westbury's.

I don't agree Yokel. Each pool must fight on its own terms, and to my mind the case for the Westbury Pool is overwhelming in terms of facilities (and the money recently spent on it), historical significance and what it adds to the nature of the town. But as the letter in the WHN points out, if we are not careful Wiltshire Council will pit town against town and pick us off one by one. I still believe that together we could put up a stronger fight and use evidence like the high number of obese children in West Wiltshire (as an example only) to fight a good fight and win.

We have already lost our hospital and no doubt other services will be under threat soon enough. Towns need good facilities and goodness knows we pay enough in rates.

Yokel is 100% correct , Iam afraid each town must look after its own first , we In Westbury have a very strong case for why we demand our pool is retained , Melksham on the other hand have a different case to Westbury and the fight for them is down to Melksham people to decide what they want to do about it.
The letter by Mr carbin is fine but a little bit of maybe electionering as the Lib Dem parliament candidate
