The Anorak Within
«

Must have been my thinking day on Friday, because as I downloaded an E book from the internet
I found myself tidying up the text, taking out spaces and find and replacing the American spellings. (sometimes I do this
to emails before forwarding them on).
I got to thinking about the 'inner anorak' which most people seem to have at one point or another,
usually after the age of 25 it appears.
Is this a thing which gets worse with age ?
Does anyone else want to admit to an inner anorak ?

I don't really have anything anorak(y) but as I get older I find myself shouting the correct pronunciation of words at the tv.
I particularly hate hearing people pronounce the word "Ireland" as "Island" which the commentator did constantly in today's rugby match. I kept shouting at him until well into half way through the first half when I realised he couldn't hear me.
Sorry, but pronunciation, even though I'm not perfect myself, really gets to me. I'm getting old and grumpy. I know.

US spellings that use “a” instead of “e”.
Use of “lol” – that’s like saying “Look I am telling you I am being funny, I’m so whacky!”
Sorry, that’s all grammatical irritations.
I enter the alpha acid of my hops into the beer software when I brew and vary my pitch volumes accordingly – but given that all AA% changes very little from one bag of (e.g.) East Kent Goldings to the next it’s really just academic.

Glad I'm not the only one.

Use of “lol”
bet that includes 'lmao'.
I used to find text speak irritating, but since texting more have found I drop into it a bit sometimes, especially if the battery is on the low side.
