I try to support local shops, particularly now I can't travel far, but must say I can't say the new coffee shop in what was Wessex Books gets my vote. I usually go to Beadlicious, but they seem to be on holiday, or the cafe in the High Street. Nobody else in this cafe (I should have taken that as a hint) on a Saturday afternoon. Asked for a coffee and teacake and I was looked at like I had asked for crack cocaine - they only do slightly stale cake. The bill for two was over £6 (cocaine is probably cheaper?). The proprietor kept disappearing. Not again.  Embarrassed

Really Hermes? I am sorry to hear you had that experience.

You are talking about the shop where they do the picture framing?

I think they started off offering cakes and teas etc, but business was not booming so I think I am right in saying they are focusing more on the Gallery now and framing service?

The owner, Lisa, is so lovely, warm and down to earth, I only know her through popping in with an artist friend who was selling work, and i am sure she would be upset to hear of your experience.

I've met Lisa CC and she's lovely.
I don't want to get sued, and I don't like doing negative reviews.
It was the other half who was on.
Hasn't quite grasped the concept of smiling at the customers yet. One couple walked out whilst I was there.
