What on earth has happened to global warming? Coolest August since 1993, four dull summers on the trot.

Some people have very short memories!
June and July had many warm/hot and sunny days while it took until mid-August for things to turn wet. It was considerably the best summer since 2006 and rainfall was greatly below average. In fact there was more rain on the night 22-23 August than the monthly totals of any of the previous 4 months!!
We've just had 9/10 fine days, and are going to get some very heavy rain later this afternoon/evening/overnight.

I could do with some rain to wash down the early season apple pile. And I am letting one of my courgettes grow into a big marrow and it could do with a drink, as could the sweetcorn. Willbe pressing this weekend so i hope saturday isnt too bad.

Im with Jayday we have had terrible summers over the last 4 years ! 9/10 fine sunny days dosent make it a good summer , anyway suppose the heating will go on soon and the roll on of winter again , we will more than likely have another sh-it-ey summer next year again, Oh well 15 weeks to go then im off for a month in Singapore then Australia at the hight of their summer , I will miss our weather here not one jot

Its a fantastic Island Jayday so lovely , there is no crime to speak of its clean no rubbish anywhere people are very polite and welcoming , its cheap and a beautiful island to visit , Your wife would also love the shopping there Changi Airport is the best in the world for shopping and entertainment , even the islanders go there for day trips . Its a 13 hour flight from London so not that long on a plane

Must be quite localised. BBC shows heavy rain but apart from a 20 min light shower about 11:10 (when I was walking from Morrison's to the High Street) it's been a pleasant day. Very warm with storms over the next few days in Singapore. http://www.weather.com/weather/today/Singapore+Singapore+SNXX0006

Hermes, BBC always overdo the rain 'blobs' on sunshine & showers days. Stunning sky today though .
